1000+ New APIs
We’re testing out the iPhone 3.0 Beta at the Quick.tv studio. It’s quite impressive. The inclusion of cut and paste is fantastic. The simple slide and lift of a pressing finger opens up paste options. If you make a mistake, shake your iPhone to remove your paste. It’s a brilliant user experience, but long overdue.
The addition of push technology for many applications even when the app isn’t running—not just email—allows countless perks for businesses to capture the attention of their users; as a double-whammy: the inclusion of purchasing within an application creates a commerce platform unparalleled.
With more options for developers to make seamless applications with the iPhone, the opportunities to push the Quick.tv platform onto the iPhone is definitely something to think about doing. With interactivity within video itself, the option for making interactive video for the most successful touch-screen smart phone on the planet is something we fancy for the future.
Likewise, the competition is hurting. With Sony Ericsson announcing their dire results in sales, alongside Palm and Blackberry, with the me-to iPhone killers reporting minor stakes, the iPhone will apparently once again raise the bar for the holistic user experience

OK, I don’t own an iPhone yet…
But I just have to make the comment that “shaking your iPhone to remove your paste” statement immediately made my mind think about Etch-A-Sketch. Haha.

P.S. /em is getting bored of having to enter re-Captcha everytime I make a comment. =)

Michael,
I’ll make note of the CAPTCHA. It’s quite annoying.

Looking forward to the possibilities 3.0 opens up, we should see a new generation of apps.
One thing I’ve missed since leaving my Sony Ericsson a few years back was using a great little app BluePhoneElite – allows you to basically run your phone from your (mac) desktop. Hopefully with Apple opening up bluetooth in 3.0 compatibility can be added!

I can’t wait to see some of the apps that become available in the summer… I’m not so interested in the copy and paste, more so the fact that applications can now access your music library. This will be great for any DJ’ing applications, I just wish I had the ability to write such a thing. Imagine going to see a set by someone with simply a mixer and two iphones/itouch – No need to carry your decks or records around!

Paul, I agree. Apple is seriously raising the bar. I’ve played around with cut and paste for a couple weeks now, and while it’s awesome, I’ve used it only a couple times. It comes in handy during those times however!
Back to the music: the iPhone’s music apps thus far are incredible. Check out Boing Boing for that post regarding iPhone’s recreating the “Kids” single by MGMT.
