    Hello World

    Hello World

“Hello World!” Do you know this phrase? I think you do. To the programmers and coders out there that start a new language, this phrase is the beginning of a new environment. It’s the beginning of a journey in which you desire to gain experience and knowledge in an environment of interest, enthusiastic to learn and understand.

This is the beginning of my journey. I’m the new intern at Quick.tv. Without further adieu, let me introduce myself to the masses. From San Francisco, California, I hightailed it to Newcastle to pursue a Masters in E-Business, stemming from my fascination of startup culture: their adaptive nature, agility towards market demands, quickness to innovate, fullness of ideas, but most importantly—an all-hands-on-deck attitude due to a passionately engaging team mindset.

After graduation, with Masters in hand, I sought out to mingle in the local community of digital entrepreneurs. With a passionate interest in web technologies, I looked to Twitter to guide me. Through this wonderful whiz-bang application, I discovered and later attended Twestival. It was here I learned about Quick.tv. What I heard intrigued me. I was interested, and sought to proactively inquire about a internship.

That caught their attention. One evening I got a call from Nick, and I was visited the office the next morning. Meeting their second founder, Tod Yeadon at the door, he welcomed me into their office where I met the rest of the team (Tosh, Matt, Armin). With their desks facing each other in the center of the room, monitors and laptops actively running concurrently with their autonomous tasks, a massive whiteboard to visualize the “game plan,” it hit me: I was inside the office of a startup. You could feel the energy in the room.

Quick.tv and I want to share my experience and journey within the walls of a startup with you. So stay tuned for my daily blog posts about fun office topics, industry news, other startups, and specifically my experience and journey in the posts: Culture of a Startup.

Great first post. Any photos of the office on Flickr or somewhere?

Michael, photo’s of the office are sparse at the moment. Piles and piles of paper, monitors and laptops. We’ll see if it’s tidy enough for a public showcase on Friday.

But for now, here’s our flickr stream: http://www.flickr.com/photos/quicktv/
